I have already said it: “Pokémon” is dead to me. A long time ago I stopped purchasing the newer games, I really loathed how the new generations of Pokémon looked like, and I’m actually happy being stuck with my copies of “Pokémon Heart Gold” and “Soul Silver”. I really loved what this franchise used to be, but, nowadays, it’s just a Zombie. However, my indifference to the games can’t compete with my big hatred for the anime. At least the videogames offered something new each generation, but the anime was episode after episode of Ash wanting to win the new Pokémon League, the Team Rocket wanting to steal that stupid and overrated Pikachu, showing us a new Pokémon as a commercial, and the series becoming staler and staler. And…I’m not alone here. Aside of many former fans giving a fuck now about the new games, there’s even more who despised the anime, and there’s really nothing to defend this franchise from the accusations. I mean, almost everyone universally despised, and then forgot, about the “Pokémon Black & White” anime. However, the series for the Generation 6 wasn’t really that bad. Aside of having really fresh material from the games as the Mega Evolutions and the Fairy Type, this new arc really got a great fandom, especially for this girl, who we are going to talk about. For this Friday:

    Serena, from “Pokémon X & Y”.

Even after disappointing almost everyone with “Black & White”, I couldn’t help but notice that “Pokémon X & Y”, even having the blandest subtitle, got a lot of notoriety on Internet. After a long time, I could see the “Pokémon” Anime being noticed again for a majority. Were the episodes better? Maybe, I wasn’t one of the fans who jumped into the bandwagon. Were the new Pokémon worth talking about? What should I know? Were the Mega Evolutions and the Fairy Type Pokémon too good to ignore? I think so.

To be honest, when I saw something about this new anime on Internet was mainly for a particular theme: Serena and Ash.

Since the Generation 3, the anime adopted a costume of changing the Female Partner of Ash on the adventures, in order to give fresher lolicon, I guess. May was hated for so many, but still loved by many more. Dawn wasn’t really warmly welcome, but I have barely heard shit about her. And…don’t know if fans were easy on Iris, seeing she first appeared in the most hated “Pokémon” Arc. However, everyone went crazy with Serena.

Maybe a lot of fans still miss Misty, even if I can’t understand why (she was a bitch), Serena quickly earned a lot of popularity between the followers. They were in love with here. I can see that: she was nice, had some insecurities she tried to overcome, and she was very fond of Ash. And, this was precisely what kicked in.

Maybe this new anime was good, but what people were more obsessed about was about Ash and Serena as a couple. They got a cute backstory, which showed us that Ash wasn’t a total brat without a brain, Serena had a lot of respect to Ash, and they even got very funny and cute moments in the anime. Also, Serena was so fucking beautiful…and she even was sexualized with a pair of boobs and a tiny miniskirt.

On Internet, back then, I stumbled with a lot of fanart, fan videos, and any other kind of material featuring Ash and Serena as a couple. It was a big phenomena. People just wanted to see these two holding hands and smooching. I also have my Shipping Part, but this still surprises me until this day. The fans even invented a name for this couple: Amourshipping. What loves can achieve.

This love for this couple became so big that even the creators decided to satisfy the fans. Did they let Ash win the Pokémon League?...NO. But, at least they give us a scene to solidify the Amorushipping:

When Serena finally say goodbye to Ash and the other two kids, seeing Ash was still as asexual as Sheldon Cooper, while climbing down the escalator, she turns back and dashes to Ash…and a focus to their feet implied they shared a kiss together ala “Edward Scissorhands”. Everyone blushed except for Ash. Whoa: FRIENDZONE FOREVER!

Yeah, it blew dicks that the anime couldn’t at least give us a kiss on screen, but that’s why fanarts is for.

For her great beauty, amazing personality, and being participant in one of the most important eras of the anime, I found as a great challenge to draw Serena as a Toy Girl.

I decided to draw Serena wearing the first outfit she used in the anime, and her iconic clothing in the videogames. She looked very pretty on it. It was a little hard to replicate, but I really loved the final product.

Like it’s costume here, because she is a girl from “Pokémon”, I gave her a Poké Ball. Seeing how massive was the Amourshipping Trend, I gave her a Love Ball. Seemed too fitting to skip!

The hardest part was to pick a great pose for her. I looked in Google for images of characters throwing a Poké Ball, and I drew the better one.

I think now it’s a tradition here in Toy Girls to start every Volume of the Shelf Series with a Pokémon Girl. I find this pretty cool. Maybe I will do that with VOL VI too, because “Cuteness shall last”.

And with this, we start a brand new chapter here in the Shelf Series. We will continue next Friday. With who? For next week, come here with hunger, because, we are dipping into one of the most famous Fast Food Chains of All Time. We are going to have a royal meal spiced with the best seasoning ever: the 90’s.
