So, long time ago, while I was waiting for the finale of “Gravity Falls”, I met a very nice user from You Tube that told me some information about this special. We talked a little bit and I offered this person a request for Toy Girls, so now I’m finally giving this work to that user and to all my public. I’m mcickeyelric11 and this is Toy Girls. So, let’s finish this weekend with a golden ribbon.
“The Bully Cliché” is the trope I hate the most. Aside of making me remember really bitter moments of my life, most of the characters from this formula most of the time are really unlikeable bland cardboard cuts that just spoil the fun in a fictional work. HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean that they can’t be done right. Alex De Large is one of my favorite villains, and the videogame “BULLY” has an amazing story with even better characters and concepts. This can be achieved by giving a good personality to the bullies and either making them the villains that must be defeated by a great hero, or the butt of all the slapstick. Also, a really wise idea is, at some point of the story, to finally change the writing of these characters to turn them into good guys. This is the case of this character from this show. Even if I have always considered “Gravity Falls” as a good show, of course it had some elements I didn’t like, and one of them was the bullies: Robbie and Pacifica. However, in its favor, this show was really smart at the time of use them. At difference from many terrible shows, these two used to lose a lot of times, and even be the butt of the jokes. However, in my opinion, the best written bully was Pacifica.
She started really one dimensional and unlikeable. It was more like a really forced enemy for Mabel than an interesting character. However, time later, she got more depth and more nice interactions with the Pines.
But, the smartest movement done with her was finally changing her from a snobby bully to an ally for the twins, in one of the most famous episodes of this cartoon. From being just a spoiled brat, she finally turned into a nicer person, saving the day, and even plenty of fans shipped her with Dipper.
Also, she had a great role in the final episode of “Weirdmageddon Part III”.
So, seeing the change this girl got, I was really happy to draw Pacifica Northwest as a Toy Girl.
Here I didn’t want to draw the bland and mean bully that Pacifica used to be, but instead the better character she became after the Mansion Episode, so to represent this, I drew her holding the infamous Llama Sweater she got in the final special, while wearing her most iconic outfit. Also, I represented her crying of joy, in a way to show how happy she is of finally being accepted by others as a good person.
Also, because she only had two black dots, I put her with purple pupils, so they could fit with her clothing.
So yeah, even if most of the Bully Characters are done terrible and just because, there are still some of them that can be really good. I hope I can see this more often, ecause “Cutenes shall last”.
