Toy Girls - Catalogue Series 24: Tiana

    Saturday, the day for uploading a new Toy Girl for The Catalogue Series! Remember, well you know already you can ask for requests, so, let’s stop digressing and let’s get this started:

    After tarzan, Disney seemed to get in ANOTHER Dark Age, well OK, it wasn’t so terrible, and we’ve got great movies like Lilo and Stitch, however, the magic was gone again, plenty of the movies, even if they were good, bombed at the box office, the 2D animation was signing its Death Sentence, and the CGI was a Joseph Stalin starting to invade in all kingdoms. However, the years passed, and Dinsey finally returned as the king, NO, Emperor it is, entering in what plenty of people likes to call The Disney Revival. Everything has a start, and this start had this character, a Princess by the way. For you:

    Tiana, from “The Princess and the Frog” , a gift for a really pretty classmate of mine.

    So Disney wanted to come back to the throne with a 2D animated film, a media considered dead in movies, and not only that: trying to make a new Disney Princess too. If that wasn’t enough, we were going to see our first Black Princess. Everything looked risky, and I think a lot of Disney worker were swallowing saliva in stress. HOWEVER…everything was just fine!

    The movie was a success with critics and at the box office. It didn’t only make Disney mean something again, but it also give a hope for 2D animation.

    Do I like the film? Yes, in a cool manner. It’s not my favorite Disney Film, and it’s not even in the TOP 10, but the story is unique, even the adaptation it’s really smart, the characters are so memorable, it pleased my hunger for 2D, and the villain is motherfucking great. So, what about Tiana?

    Here was always a controversy with Disney Princesses, because they have been blamed a lot for giving little girl bad role models. However, we can’t deny plenty of them had its own charm, especially since Disney Renaissance, and they became more independent and more complex in personality. Tiana is a great example of this.

    She doesn’t have only the gimmick of being black, but she is a really good role model and a tridimensional character: Really hard worker, with her own fears, a neat objective, and a funny way of acting. You root a lot for her, and she even saves the day at the end. She is like a combination of Cinderella, Mulan and a bit of Belle.

    So, when that classmate of mine recommend me this character long time ago, I think I will turn her into a Toy Girl for her.

    Yeah, I know I made Connie from SU, but Still excited me to make another balck girl for this series. I really liked the final result.

    Of course I was going to make the younger version of Tiana: adult women look awkward turned into a Chibi Style. At first, I only remembered in her pajama, facing the frog that scared her. However, when I looked for images, I remembered she wore a green dress too, even with a crown, so I chose that outfit instead.

    I decided to add her with a spoon remembering her great ability for cooking. She looks so adorable!

    So, I just can’t wait to show this work to her, I hope she likes it, because “Cuteness shall last”.
