Description

It’s Sunday, and you know what that means: a work for The Arts & Crafts Series. I’m mickeyelric11 and this is Toy Girls. So let’s get this started:

Something really cruel in the film industry with works series that want to transform to movies: if your first product is bad, you and your franchise can go fuck yourself. I know literature is a complete art, but I still feel sad that when a novel series that looks god or interesting dies with only 1 film, because it got terrible reviews or it was a box office bomb. This was the case of this film, which gave us this adorable character. For this Sunday:

Lyra Belacqua, from “The Golden Compass”, relative work for His Dark Materials Trilogy. A request from my dear friend :iconffejgao:

Alright, I have never read these novels, or either watched the infamous film. I just limited myself to know about this by the trailers I watched and the information I got on Internet.

I know nothing of the story, but I know basic information of the background of the film adaptation: it was based in a famous trilogy of books, it left out plenty of symbolic elements in the movie form, especially the Anti-Religion themes, there were some issues with the money it got, and it got terrible reviews.

A big reason why I haven’t forgotten this film was because of a video on Watchmojo about.

However, I find really interesting how the original books, aimed to kids, have a great criticism against religion and the church, being myself an atheist. I think that’s really interesting, and makes the book a lot interesting for me. But, I digress, let’s go with Lyra.

…but thinking better, I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY ABOUT LYRA BELACQUA! No, I don’t hate her, but, because I haven never consumed this franchise, I know nothing about her except of she being one of the two protagonist, and being an orphan.

So, let’s just say that now Lyra Belacqua is now a Toy Girl.

This time, I didn’t make a Frankestein of this character, and I just used the actress Dakota Blue Richards, even with the infamous reputation of the film. Also, like I said, I didn’t read the original novels.

The hair was a great adventure to make. Even if I had all the right to make this simple as much as possible, I decided instead in drawing the hair into a bunch of locks of different colors. The end result is just o cool and beautiful for me, so, it was worth the effort.

For the outfit, I chose the blue dress she wore for the poster, seeing prettier and easier to replicate than the winter clothing.

For the pose, for guessing that this franchise was about this girl in big adventures, I put her crouching and looking up to the danger.

Again, The Arts & Crafts Series let me discover a really interesting fictional work. Maybe I’ll someday purchased the books of this trilogy to know the story, or at least watch the movie, because “Cuteness shall last”.
